Junction Oval

Junction Oval

Junction Oval has been an integral part of Melbourne’s rich sporting heritage since its construction in 1856. Most recently the historic sporting ground underwent a two-year, $40 million-dollar redevelopment, becoming the administrative headquarters for Cricket Victoria as well as the training grounds for multiple cricketing teams, including Victoria Cricket (The Bushrangers) and Big Bash T20 superstar teams Melbourne Renegades and Melbourne Stars.

Q Industries supplied luminaires throughout a majority of the facility including administrative, medical, aquatic, media, and parking areas as well a full lighting design and supply of the state-of-the-art interior cricket training area.

Using the Alus luminaire with specialised optics, we were able to achieve 800lx and 0.9 uniformity across the entire space. No easy feat!

“It’s beautiful,” said Australian cricketer and Victoria captain, Aaron Finch during the team’s first training session. “Everything from the change rooms, the gym and pool set-up, the indoor centre – it’s all pretty amazing.”

Q Industries supplied our architectural Eaton and Lightplane 2.5 linear extrusion throughout the administrative and office areas, mixed downlights including the Torrin, Array and Verona in general areas and on the building’s exterior awnings, Cisco downlight and Ribbon flexible neon strip in the pool centre as well as the Alus highbay for the interior training centre.
